Thank you for taking the local priority survey recently, we note that you highlighted Shoplifting in the survey so we wanted to provide you with an update on this local matter.
Prolific Chingford Shoplifter was charged with 140 offences of theft and burglary of two supermarkets within Waltham Forest. Stealing £8000 of goods between January and July 2025, terrorising staff members and the community alike. He was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court last week to 3 ½ years imprisonment. #Good News
Local shops play a big role in the community as they’re some of the most dynamic and accessible places in the city. A place that can become as familiar as your home. As such we want to make sure these areas are protected throughout all hours of the day and night. If you notice anything suspicious or witness anyone shoplifting, please report it as soon as possible. These reports are invaluable in letting us build a picture of when and where shop lifters operate, meaning we can be in the right place at the right time to arrest those responsible.
